Quizflex isn't just a website—it's a Progressive Web App (PWA). That means you can install it on your phone or computer and use it like a native app: one tap from your home screen, full-screen mode, and better support when you're offline.
Here's what the PWA gives you and how to use it.
What Is a Progressive Web App?
A Progressive Web App is a website that meets certain technical criteria so browsers can offer an "Install app" option. When you install it:
- Mobile access: A shortcut is added to your home screen (phone) or taskbar/desktop (computer). You open Quizflex with one tap or click instead of opening a browser and typing the URL.
- App-like experience: The app runs in its own window, often full-screen, without the browser's address bar and tabs.
- Offline support: Previously visited pages can load from a local cache when you have no internet, so you can still open Quizflex and review cached content when connectivity is spotty.
You're still using the same Quizflex site—no separate app store download. Installation is just a different way to launch and display it.
What You See: The Install Prompt
When you use Quizflex in a supported browser (for example Chrome on Android or desktop), you may see a prompt suggesting you install the app. The prompt highlights:
- Mobile access – Quick launch from your home screen.
- Offline support – Use the app when the network is unavailable.
You can:
- Tap "Install App" to add Quizflex to your device (home screen, app drawer, or desktop).
- Tap "Maybe Later" or the X to dismiss the prompt. You can keep using Quizflex in the browser; the prompt may appear again later.
The prompt only appears when the browser supports PWA installation and when Quizflex qualifies (e.g. HTTPS, valid manifest, service worker). If you don't see it, you can still add Quizflex to your home screen manually (e.g. "Add to Home Screen" in the browser menu).
How Installation Works
- On phones (e.g. Android): Tapping "Install App" adds a Quizflex icon to your home screen. Opening it launches Quizflex in a standalone, app-like window.
- On desktop (e.g. Chrome): Installing adds Quizflex to your applications; you can open it from your taskbar or app list in its own window.
- Same account, same data: Whether you use the installed app or the website in a browser, you're using the same Quizflex account and data. There is no separate "mobile app" backend.
After installation, the install prompt is hidden when you're already running Quizflex as the installed app (standalone display mode).
Offline Support: What Works
Quizflex uses a service worker to cache some resources. When you're offline or on a slow connection:
- Cached pages (e.g. the homepage, previously visited quiz or dashboard pages) may load from the cache.
- New or dynamic content (e.g. generating a new quiz, loading fresh data) requires the internet. API requests for credit usage and billing always go to the server and are not cached, so tracking and billing remain accurate.
So "offline support" means you can open the app and use previously loaded content when you're offline; creating new quizzes or syncing data still needs a connection.
Privacy, Billing, and Credit Tracking
- Credit tracking and billing are unchanged. Usage is recorded on the server when your device is online. The PWA does not cache or alter API calls used for billing or credit tracking.
- Data and privacy: The installed app uses the same HTTPS connection and policies as the website. No extra data is collected because you installed the PWA.
Summary
| Feature | What it means |
|---|---|
| Mobile access | Install once; open Quizflex from your home screen or desktop with one tap or click. |
| App-like experience | Runs in its own window, often full-screen, without browser chrome. |
| Offline support | Cached pages can load when you're offline; new generation and sync need the internet. |
| Same app everywhere | One URL, one account; install is just a different way to launch. |
If you see the install prompt, you can try it with "Install App" to get quick mobile access and offline support. If you prefer the browser, you can dismiss it and continue as usual—Quizflex works either way.
