How do I calculate my test grade?
Divide the number of correct answers by the total number of questions, then multiply by 100. For example, 38 correct out of 50 = 38/50 × 100 = 76%. Use the Test tab above and enter both numbers - the calculator returns the percentage, the letter grade, and the number you needed for any target percentage.
How do I calculate a weighted course grade?
Multiply each assignment's percentage score by its weight (as a decimal), then add the results. For example: Homework 90% × 0.20 + Midterm 78% × 0.30 + Final 85% × 0.50 = 18 + 23.4 + 42.5 = 83.9%. Use the Weighted tab to enter any number of assignments - the tool handles the math.
What grade do I need on my final exam?
Use the formula: needed = (target − current × (1 − final_weight)) / final_weight. The Final Exam tab does this automatically. Enter your current grade, the target you want for the course, and the weight of the final - the tool tells you the score you need on the final to land on your target.
What is the standard letter grade scale?
The most common US letter grade scale is A (93-100%), A− (90-92%), B+ (87-89%), B (83-86%), B− (80-82%), C+ (77-79%), C (73-76%), C− (70-72%), D+ (67-69%), D (63-66%), D− (60-62%), F (below 60%). Some schools use 90/80/70/60 cutoffs without plus/minus - the calculator shows both styles.
How is GPA different from a percentage grade?
GPA (Grade Point Average) converts letter grades to a 4.0 scale: A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, F = 0.0 (with .3/.7 adjustments for plus/minus). A percentage grade is the raw 0-100 score. The Weighted tab shows a 4.0-scale GPA equivalent below the percentage.
Are my grades sent to a server?
No. The grade calculator runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your scores never leave your device, never touch our servers, and are not stored anywhere. Close the tab and the data is gone.
