What is an exit ticket?
An exit ticket is a 1-3 minute formative check at the end of class. Students answer a short prompt before they leave so you can see who understood the day’s target skill and who needs reteaching tomorrow. Exit tickets work best when tied to one clear lesson objective.
How many questions should I use?
Two or three items is typical—more than that stops feeling like a quick check. If you need more evidence, alternate who answers which question or use one multiple-choice plus one short response.
What is the difference between retrieval and transfer prompts?
Retrieval asks students to recall or explain the core idea from today in their own words. Transfer asks them to apply the idea to a new, thinly novel example. Mixing both tells you whether students memorized a phrase versus whether they can use the concept.
Can I edit the generated tickets?
Yes. The output is plain text—change any wording, add your name block or school logo in your doc, or split prompts across half-sheets. The generator gives a tight starting point aligned to your topic.
Is my lesson topic sent anywhere?
No. Exit tickets are built entirely in your browser from the text you type. Nothing is uploaded to our servers.
