Studying for a major exam? You no longer need to describe the exam format, set the difficulty, or tweak settings every time you create a quiz. With Exam Presets, Quizflex does all of that for you in a single click.

We've added 22 exam presets covering the most popular standardized tests, professional certifications, and practical exams. Each preset is carefully tuned to match the real exam's question style, difficulty level, topic coverage, and time constraints. Just pick your exam, and the AI generates questions that feel like the real thing.

How It Works

  1. Go to Create Quiz — Open the quiz creation page on Quizflex.
  2. Pick a preset — You'll see exam buttons for popular exams like SAT Math, GRE Verbal, PMP, AWS, and more. Click the one you're studying for.
  3. Generate — The AI automatically uses the correct topic scope, question format, difficulty mix, and time limit for that exam. Hit generate and start practicing.

That's it. No manual configuration. The preset handles everything — question count, difficulty distribution, question types, and even specialized prompt instructions so the AI knows exactly what style of questions to produce.

What's Included

Standardized Tests (College & Graduate Admissions)

PresetWhat It Covers
SAT MathAlgebra, advanced math, problem solving, data analysis, geometry — Digital SAT format with calculator allowed
SAT Reading & WritingShort-passage reading comprehension, vocabulary in context, grammar, rhetorical analysis — Digital SAT style
GRE VerbalText completion, sentence equivalence, reading comprehension — graduate-level vocabulary
GRE QuantQuantitative comparison, multiple choice, numeric entry — graduate-level math
GMAT VerbalReading comprehension and critical reasoning — GMAT Focus Edition format (no sentence correction)

These presets generate questions that match the real exam structure. For example, SAT Reading questions come with their own short passages, and GRE Verbal includes text completion with multiple blanks — exactly how the real test works.

Professional Certifications

PresetWhat It Covers
PMPPeople, Process, and Business Environment domains — 50/50 predictive and agile, scenario-based
AWS Cloud PractitionerCloud concepts, security, core services, billing — CLF-C02 format
CompTIA A+Hardware, networking, OS, security, troubleshooting — Core 1 and Core 2 combined
NCLEX-Style NursingClinical judgment, patient safety, pharmacology — Next Generation NCLEX format
Bar Exam (MBE-style)Contracts, torts, constitutional law, criminal law, evidence, civil procedure, real property

The PMP preset, for instance, generates scenario-based questions like "A project manager discovers that a key stakeholder is unhappy with the sprint deliverables..." — the same situational judgment style you'll see on the actual exam.

Practical Exams

PresetWhat It Covers
Driving Theory TestRoad signs, traffic rules, safe driving practices, hazard awareness — universal format for learner drivers

This is a universal driving theory preset that doesn't tie to any specific country's regulations, making it useful for anyone studying for their first license.

What Makes Presets Different from Regular Quizzes?

When you create a quiz from a preset vs. typing a topic manually, several things happen behind the scenes:

1. Expert-Level Prompt Engineering

Each preset includes a detailed prompt instruction — a carefully written guide that tells the AI exactly how to generate questions. For example, the SAT Math preset instructs the AI to:

  • Use 4 answer options (A, B, C, D)
  • Distribute questions across algebra, advanced math, problem solving, and geometry
  • Mix 30% easy, 50% medium, and 20% hard questions
  • Include real-world contexts and multi-step reasoning
  • Make distractors reflect common student errors

This level of detail is what turns generic AI-generated questions into exam-realistic practice material.

2. Pre-Configured Settings

Each preset automatically sets:

  • Question count — Matched to a realistic practice session (10–25 questions depending on the exam)
  • Difficulty — Set to the exam's actual difficulty level
  • Question types — MCQ only for exams like SAT; mixed MCQ + fill-in-the-blank for GRE Quant
  • Time limit — Realistic time pressure where appropriate (25 min for SAT sections, 30 min for PMP, etc.)
  • Quiz mode — Exam mode (auto-submit when time runs out) for timed exams, practice mode for untimed prep

3. Reading Passage Support

Exams like SAT Reading, GRE Verbal, and GMAT Verbal require reading comprehension passages. These presets automatically enable passage-based questions — each question comes with its own passage, just like the real exam.

Localized in 30 Languages

Every preset name and description is translated into all 30 languages that Quizflex supports. Whether you're using Quizflex in English, Hindi, Japanese, Arabic, Spanish, or any other supported language, the exam preset buttons and descriptions appear in your language.

The AI-generated questions themselves are always in the exam's native language (English for SAT, GRE, etc.), since that's what you'll face on test day.

How to Get Started

  1. Go to Dashboard → Create Quiz
  2. Look for the Popular Exams section — you'll see buttons for each exam
  3. Click any exam preset
  4. Adjust the question count if you want (the preset provides a good default)
  5. Click Generate Quiz
  6. Practice, review your results, and use the AI Assistant to understand your mistakes

You can also access exam presets directly via URL — for example, /dashboard/create?exam=sat-math will pre-fill the SAT Math preset automatically. This is useful if you want to bookmark your most-used exam for quick access.

Tips for Effective Exam Practice

  • Start with a diagnostic: Generate a full-length preset quiz to see where you stand. Use the AI Assistant to understand your weak areas.
  • Focus on weak areas: After your diagnostic, create topic-specific quizzes to drill down on the areas where you scored lowest.
  • Simulate real conditions: Use the timed exam mode to practice under pressure. The presets already configure realistic time limits.
  • Review with AI: After each quiz, use the Quiz AI Assistant to ask "why was question X wrong?" and get detailed explanations.
  • Retake to reinforce: After reviewing your mistakes, retake the quiz. The AI generates new questions each time, so you'll never see the same test twice.
